Fall Tutor Information Session

Calling all volunteer tutors! Do you have two hours to spare a week? Are you enthusiastic? Supportive? Willing to help someone in need? If yes, please join us for our fall Tutor Information Session.

Lifelong learning is important for economic prosperity and personal growth. Raising the literacy levels of Canadians is one of the most important ways to encourage lifelong learning.

When: Monday September 18, 2017.

Where: Woodside Library, Lower Level, 1274 Rebecca Street

Time: 6:30 – 8:30 P.M.

Please call our office at 905-631-1770 to register. The Tutor Workshops will take place on both Saturday October 28 and Saturday November 4 from 9:30 AM- 4:00 PM.

Please note if accepted, participation and attendance at two Saturday workshop sessions is mandatory to become certified as a “Laubach tutor”, a valid police check is required, including a $20.00 annual membership fee payable at the workshop. A brief interview will also be conducted before the workshops.

This year our Guest Speaker is Katie Jacobs, Executive Director of the Learning Disabilities Association of Halton, a non-profit, charitable organization focused on supporting, educating and delivering services to individuals with learning disabiliites within Halton to positively impact their lives.

"Introduction to Computers" Fall Session

Register for Tuesday evenings or Friday mornings for a FREE 8 week course specially designed for students who have little or no experience using computers.

Literacy South Halton and The Centre for Skills Development and Training have partnered to help you learn the basics. Increase your job search skills by learning keyboarding, file management, email usage, internet searching, Microsoft Word and more.
